Project Management Institute

.:: Last Update :: March 24, 2008::.
Within PMI, chapters and specific interest groups/colleges provide opportunities for personal and professional growth and skill development for their membership. A mentoring program (traditional face-to-face or virtual/electronic type) is one such vehicle used to to deliver that opportunity.

Mentoring is the act of helping someone to learn, and it is conducted under a “protected relationship.” Mentors are facilitators and catalysts in a process of discovery and insight. In a learning partnership, the mentor’s role is “guide on the side” rather than “sage on the stage.”

The WiPM eMentoring Program directly supports a key principle of the SIG which is to foster and develop the diverse roles that women in project management perform.
